A fortnight, from “fourteen nights”, is a double week of 14 days. It can also be used to mean a half month (15–16 days) or a half lunation (14–15 days). Likewise, a sennight, from “seven nights”, can be a synonym for the 7-day week, but also stand in for a quarter month or a quarter lunation (7–8 days), i.e. one phase.

See Wikipedia entries Fortnight, Sennight and Half-month for more information.
